## Expert Summary

The BLACKSTONE 1883 Original 28” Griddle is an excellent choice for outdoor cooking enthusiasts, offering a substantial cooking area, flexibility with independently heated burners, and easy portability for any location. While the weight and care over time might be considerations, the griddle's durable design and useful features, like side shelves and a grease management system, make it notably user-friendly. If portability is a key concern, consider the **Blackstone On-The-Go Scissor-Leg Griddle with Hood 22"** for a more compact alternative.

## Pros
- Large 524 square inch cooking surface is perfect for cooking for a crowd and offers versatile options like an outdoor stove.
- Two independently heated burners allow cooking different foods at varied temperatures simultaneously.
- Heats up quickly and is ready to use immediately with propane fuel.
- Easy to assemble with simple screws and bolts, so you can start cooking without hassle.
- Equipped with sturdy wheels and a roll-and-go design, making it conveniently portable for outings like park picnics.
- Integrated protective hood and Blackstone’s patented rear grease management system make cleaning simpler and reduce mess.
- Dual counter-height side shelves provide ample prep and serving space.
- Cooks food evenly, performing well for various dishes including burgers, fajitas, and grilled sandwiches.
- Durable powder-coated steel construction, though care is needed to maintain it.

## Cons
- Quality control issues reported: peeling paint, crooked assembly, and missing or ill-fitting parts can cause frustration.
- Inconsistent build quality may lead to metal parts being vulnerable to rust, especially in humid or rainy climates.
- Assembly instructions can be unclear, and some components like mounting holes may not line up precisely, requiring modifications.
- Side shelves get extremely hot during use, posing safety risks as placing plastic or paper items on them can cause melting or fire hazards. Wind guards are not included but necessary to mitigate this.
- Griddle top may require regular seasoning, cleaning, and oiling to maintain optimal performance and prevent damage.
- Customer service has been reported as unhelpful or unresponsive when addressing issues.
- Weight is unknown, which may concern buyers prioritizing ultra-easy transport.
- No included wind guards, which are highly recommended for safety and heat management.
